Healthy foods have numerous benefits. It keeps our mind, body and Soul healthy. Healthy food is much cheaper than junk food. You will be saving a great amount when you should consume only healthy food. Moreover, it keeps away diseases like diabetes, cholesterol, blood pressure, obesity, heart diseases and many more.

Why is Junk Food harmful?

Junk food is very harmful and unhealthy to our bodies. It contains high amount of sugar salt, fat, oil, artificial color and flavors.  Junk food invites all the diseases.

What is meant by Healthy Eating Habits?

Healthy eating gives you the nutrients you need to maintain your healthy Mind, body and soul. These nutrients include Calcium, fiber, fat, protein, carbohydrate, water, Vitamin and Minerals. Healthy eating habit only helps to improve your metabolism. Metabolism is an energy that is used to burn fat or calories you take every day.

We must encourage good and healthy eating habits only, So that our future generations will be healthy, happy and fit. Most importantly we should teach kids from an early age at the harmful effects of junk foods. In our life Health is the most important thing.

What is Millet?

Millets are small seeds, cereal grain and oldest cultivated grains in the World. Millets are antioxidant Property. It is gluten free grain. Millets are safe when consume it in moderate amount.

Millet is Rich in Niacin, which is important for healthy skin and organ function. Millets are good sources of nutrition, carbohydrates, Protein, amino acids and fiber.

Ingredients for Barnyard Millet Vada:

  • Barnyard Millet-1/2 Cup
  • Urad Dal-1 Cup
  • Green chillies-2 Nos ( finely chopped)
  • Ginger- 1 Small Chunk
  • Big Onion-1 or 2 Nos ( finely chopped)
  • A Handful Coriander leaves
  • Salt as Needed
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions for Barnyard Millet Vada:

  1. Firstly, Wash Well Urad dal and Barnyard Then Soak it  (Both) mini.3 hrs and maxi.5 hrs.
  2. Secondly, Grind the soaked Millet and Urad dal with Green chillies and Ginger. So, grind in small intervals by sprinkling water little by little..Grind into smooth and fluffy batter using a mixer/grinder.
  3. After fine paste, Transfer to a bowl. Add Chopped Onions ,Coriander Leaves and Salt.Mix well.
  4. Now Vada Batter is Ready..Heat oil in a deep frying pan ( on a medium heat).Make sure that you fill atleast 1/2  of the pan with oil. Make vada using your palm and drop into oil.
  5. Fry until golden brown and remove from Oil.
  6. Serve this vada with Coconut Or Groundnut Chutney Or Sambar.

Note:

  • You can use powder pepper instead of green chillies.
  • For this Vada , Consistency of the batter is very important. so grind in small intervals by sprinkling water little by little. If its consistency is thick, Vada comes out very hard.
  • Barnyard and Urad dal must be soak atleast 3 hrs.
